California is the beautiful state of America with some world known cities.  This state has its own diverse culture which has blended itself to the new requirements of the time but has not lost its originality. 1. Discovered

It was discovered in 1542 by a Spanish sailor. The sailor’s name is john Rodriguez. He made frequent trips to this land so that he can be able to make his claim on this land as part of Spain.

2. Other names

This state has been given other names based on its characteristics. It is called the state of milk and honey, the golden land, El Dorado state and the grape state. But outside United States, it is known commonly as California.

3. Death Valley

Death Valley is the place named so because of the extreme hot temperature. This valley had the hottest day back in 1913 when the temperature was recorded as 56.7 degree C. this is hell lot of temperature and hottest day of the world.

4. Turkeys

California has another reason to be happy for too. More turkeys are raised in this state than in any other state of California. Turkeys are very delicious white meat cooked on special occasion.

5. Highest and lowest places

California has both, the highest and the lowest places of United States. The Death Valley is the lowest place with 282 meters below the sea level while mount Whitney is the highest place with 14, 491 meters height.

6. Seismic tremors

California is also known for the seismic tremors. It is said that every year almost 500,000 detectable seismic tremors are recorded in this state. This makes the state of California indulged into mild or low or even high intensity shakes.

7. Los Angeles is moving

With the satellites from the space, it has been observed that the city Los Ageless is moving towards east every year. This movement is one fifth part of an inch per year towards mount Gabriel.

8. Largest living organisms

The largest living organisms are also found in California. The redwoods, coast wood and giant sequoia are the largest living organisms while the general sheram trees present in California are the tallest trees of the world.

9. Immigrant place

The number of immigrants settled in USA like to settle in California. In 1990 about 30 percent of the immigrants settled in California and these immigrants were from mostly asia-pecific countries.
