Maine is a state of United States.  It is the only state of United States that shares its border with only one state. Its residents are known as Mainer. 1. History and origin

The name of the state is given after the name of a former French province. The first European settlement in Maine was done in 1604.

Initially Portland was called the capital city of Maine but in 1832 it was moved to a centrally located site of Augustus.

3. Seafood cuisine

Maine is famous for its delicious seafood cuisine. According to a report, almost 90% of sea lobsters are caught and cooked here in Maine. Its specialty is cooked shellfish.

4. Largest producer of blueberries

Maine is the largest producer of blue berries among all the 50 states of United States. It is known for its largest growth of blueberries in the nation.

5. Toothpick plant

The world’s largest toothpick plant runs here in Maine. Around 20 million of toothpicks are produced in a day in this plant.

6. Largest adventure club

Maine has the largest adventure club for the lovers of skiing, hiking and wild life sightseeing. Rangeley is the great place for fishing, hiking, skiing, snowballing and nature walk etc.

7. Famous personality

George William bush is the only famous personality related to this state. He doesn’t belong here but he has a summer home in this state.

Maine has the most number of light houses in United States. The number of these light houses is more than 65.
