10 Saturn Facts

Our solar system has eight planets of variable sizes. Similarly they have different climates, and temperatures. Some of them look amazing and have interesting characteristics as well. Saturn is one of the planets of our solar system, it is blessed with different amazing characteristic which make us more attracted to this planet. Saturn had an important place in ancient Greek civilization. Let us have some more knowledge on Saturn.

1. Second largest planet

Saturn is second largest planet in our solar system after Jupiter.  It is so big that our earth could fit into it 755 times.

2. Similar to Jupiter

Saturn is similar to Jupiter in nature and climate. It’s surface is like that of Jupiter the only difference is that it is less dense than Jupiter. Otherwise with the amazing similarity with Jupiter, Saturn is called the smaller version of Jupiter.

3: Saturn rings

Saturn has some articles circling it along with heavy gases. These gases and particles make Saturn rings. The particles in the ring are said to be the smashed moon that used to circle the moon 50 million years ago.

4. Ring direction

The rings circling Saturn are very thin. They can appear at different places around Saturn. Sometimes they look so flat that they become hardly visible from earth.  They have different tilts.

5. Disappearance of rings

It is believed that Saturn rings will appear one day. This will happen due to the planet’s gravity pull. This pull will absorb them into the planet. But this will happen some 50 million years from now.

6. Stormy weather

The planet has a stormy weather conditions on it which is similar to that of Jupiter. But it does not have great spot like that of Jupiter.

7. Distance from earth

Saturn is twice as distant from sun as Jupiter is. Means that if Jupiter is x distant from sun then the distance of Saturn from sun will be 2x.

8. Titan

Saturn has multiple moons orbiting it. Titan is the largest moon of Saturn. It is the only sun of our solar system which has an atmosphere.

9. Low density

Saturn is a low density planet. It is as low dense that if there was a big ocean which could take Saturn in it, this planet would have floated while earth and mercury are the densest planets.

10. Days and years

One day on Saturn is 10 hours and 30 minutes. Which means less than a day on earth? But a year on Saturn is 30 years of earth.
