- Personal life: His second wife divorced him in 1996. Later, he got married with the wife of Samora Machel, who was the president of Mozambic. He got married with Grace Machel in 1998.
- War against AIDS: He struggled for the AIDS patients and raised funds for them. He lost his only Son in 2005 and the cause of his death was AIDS. Death of his son motivated him and he struggled harder.
