Mount Fuji is one of the three Holy Mountains in Japan. In different languages it has different meaning, some says it means “everlasting life”, while other says it refers to the fire goddess. It is world’s 35th most prominent mountain, with the elevation of 12,388 feet. Its circumference is about 78 miles and diameter is 30 miles.

Mount Fuji is famous for its volcanic activity. Its beautiful symmetrical cone adds beauty in the mountain. Last eruption of this mountain was in 1708.

3: Most Climbed Mountain

Mount Fuji has the honor of most climbed mountain in the world. More than 100,000 people climb it every year. Around 30% climbers are from outside Japan and local people climb it for religious activity.

4: A Sacred Mountain

Mount Fuji is a sacred mountain for Buddhist. Shintoists consider it sacred because of the goddess Sengen-Sama, while for Fujiko sect it is a mountain with a soul.

5: Tourist Attraction

This mountain is considered among the few beautiful mountains of the world. It symmetrical shape is very rare. During spring a large number of tourists visit Japan to see Mount Fuji.
