Moon is the part of night of earth. It is found in our solar system but only and solely belongs to earth. With moon are associated thousands of stories. Every person from every race and profession have used moon for making their own story. For lovers, moon is an ideal symbol. For magic moon is an ideal symbol. 1. Moon is part of earth

Scientists firmly believe that moon was part of earth 4.5 billion years ago when a mars-sized object came and smashed into earth. The debris that was mostly the earth’s crust gathered itself and formed a shape. This shape became moon.

2. Density

The scientists say that the density of moon in equal to that of the crust of the earth. Similarly moon lack iron and the amount of iron it contains is equal to the amount of iron present in the crust of the earth.

3. Moon’s one face

The moon presents only one face of it to earth. When it was formed it used to spin it slowed down in billions of years and in past at some point it stopped rotating itself. Although, the earth’s gravity is keeping it in orbit but we are unable to see the other part of moon.

4. Our natural satellite

Moon is the only natural satellite that we have around earth. It is said that moon is been drifted away from earth at a rate of 4 cm a year. It will stop till moon will take 47 days to go around earth. Now the moon needs 27.3 days to go about earth.

5. Moon and Sun

An amazing thing is that although sun is 400 times bigger than moon but we can see from earth that they both look of same size. It is possible because sun is 400 times farther from earth compared to moon. But since moon is moving away so in future it will look smaller than how it looks now.

6. The moon’s pulling

The moon pulls the water on earth. But moon is not alone in this pulling sun helps too. When they line up, they can pull bigger waves similarly they are also responsible of making smaller tides. But earth’s crust is also pulled by the moon by few meters which we do not feel.

7. Gravitation

The gravitational force of moon is only 17 % of earth’s gravitation. Means a 100 kg object weighs only 17 kg on moon. Therefore on moon, one can carry heavy stuff without trouble and jump 6 times further than on earth.

8. The Moon

Yes, it is the official name of our moon. When this name was given to moon, at that time it was not known to the people about the presence of other moons in the planet, even bigger than our earth. But now that it is known, we call our moon, only moon.

9. Moon is fifth largest moon

Moon is the fifth largest moon in our solar system. Others four moons belong to Jupiter, Saturn.

10. Back to the moon

In 2019, humans will go back to the moon by making a permanent research center there. Let’s hope we find something on moon, if not on moon then on some neighboring thing.
