10 Drug Testing Facts

Drug intake once was crime and an evil which was not very common. But with the passage of time drug intake became common and now it is not even considered as evil. People used to hide their drug addiction, but now many products are available in the markets with legal covering and people use these products without any fear or care. Drug addiction is worst disease that a man can catch. This affects his ability to work and to bring ideas. That’s why, now almost for everything, the participants are tested for drugs. Below are given some facts about drug testing.

1. The corporation need

It has now become a corporation’s necessity to get their employees tested. In fact many of the corporations have included it in their agenda because they want to avoid any ugly scene due to their employees.

2. Regular drug testing

The threat of drug usage has increased so much that parents now spy on their kids and check their stuff for any drugs also force them to undergo drug tests. Military of every country has made it necessary to undergo an annual drug test.

There have arisen many scandals in which the players were found on drugs. The players use those drugs to boost their energy. Now every international committee tests their players for drugs before they start playing.

4. Pre employment tests

The drug testing is now a pre-employment requirement. Initially the pre employment tests include only  for some major diseases but now, for drugs they employers want the selected candidate to pass a test of their choice.

5. What to test?

Mostly employers select urine test to be done because it’s cheap. But in the urine tests, they have to decide which drugs should be tested. The tests are available for any of the five of following: Methamphetamine, Amphetamine, Cocaine, Phencyclidine, Marijuana, Opium, Ecstasy, Benzodiazepines, Tricyclic, Antidepressants, and Oxycodone.

6. Is it legal?

Yes, drug testing is not an illegal thing to worry about. Many states have their own drug and alcohol related laws for employment issues. So there is no problem if the employer asks for the drug test.

7. After the selection

It is also important to know that drug tests should be taken of al the employees or candidates who are selected for job but their job lies on the condition of passing the test. A prior notice have to be given to the employee so that he can know. If he fails the test, another chance is to be given in order to verify the previous finding.

8. Metabolites

After the drug is taken, it runs in the body leaving the byproduct called metabolites. Now these metabolites depend on the amount of drug taken.  And based on this, the decisions are made.

9. No sin

Drug detection is not a sin; it is a legal requirement because of the new corporate laws. The employees if are found addicted to some drugs, they cannot work well because of their addiction and pre occupation of their brain. Therefore for drug detection tests, it is always good to cooperate with the corporation.

10. Alerts

With every merits come demerits, so is the case with drug detection. If a person is not an addict but takes drugs and he is notified for the test. He won’t take drug for some time if he can manage hence there are fair chances for that person to find an escape. However this also depends on the test been taken and amount of drug the person uses.
