Giant and Red Pandas Facts

Panda is a very beautiful and famous animal. It is also very rare in the world and many life saving societies are working to save panda species in different areas. Red panda and giant panda are well known species of panda. Here are some facts about red and giant pandas.

Shape and Size

Giant pandas are 2-3 feet tall and 4-6 feet tall. They have a weight about 250 pounds. They are white and black in color. Red panda is small in size then giant panda. It is reddish brown in color. They are 20 to 24 inches in length and weighs 8-12 pounds.

Range

Giant pandas found in Cantrell China in Shiuan, Shaanxi and Gansu provinces. Red pandas found in central Asia, Nepal, Burma and Bhutan. They also found in central China.

Habitat

Giant pandas live in forests and broad leafs and areas containing bamboos at elevation between 5,000-10,000 feet. Red pandas have habitat in mountains terrains.

Diet

Giant pandas usually eat bamboos. 99 percent part of their diet is bamboo. They also eat sugar cane, rice gruel, carrots and fruits. Red pandas eat bamboos. They also eat any other available food.

Life span

Red panda normally has a life span between 8 to 10 years, but they can live up to 15 years in contrast to giant pandas that have life span 15-20 years.
