Foxes Facts

Foxes are the members of canidae family and usually smaller in size. Foxes are found in almost every region of the globe and these are omnivorous animals. Foxes have very interesting behavior and are famous for their clever nature. Here are some facts about foxes.

1. Biological Description

Foxes belong to class “Mammalia” and fall in the order and family as “Carnivora” and “Canidae” that include other animals like dogs, jackals and wolves. However, fox is smaller than its other family members.

2. Features

Foxes are mostly found in reddish and dark brown colors. However, arctic foxes are purely white. Foxes have bushy tail and long narrow nose.

3. Species

There are almost 37 species of foxes. However, most famous are red fox and arctic fox, fennec fox, silver fox etc. Red fox is the commonly available specie in many continents. Fennec fox is smallest specie of fox that have average weight 3.5 pounds.

4. Diet

Foxes are carnivorous animals. Their diet includes small mammals, snakes, scorpions, fruits, eggs, insects, birds, grass, fish, amphibians etc.

5. Silver Fox

Silver fox is such only specie of fox that can be adopted as domestic animals. They can bark like dogs and show friendly behavior with human beings.
