Habitat

They have habitat in their burrows. The burrows of earthworms may be of six feet deep. They go into burrows in drought periods. The mucous support the structure of burrows and due to this they do not collapse.

Survival

Earthworms can be affected by rot tilling of soil. They are affected from vibration and their food supply is depleted when they exposed to oxygen. You should cover the area with water logged leaves when you rot-till.

Common Earthworms

The most common earthworms which are also called lubricous terristris are not native to North America. They were killed about many years ago. They are also different from composting worms. They can not tolerate extreme temperature conditions.

Interesting Facts

An earthworm can live up to 6 years and in wild they live maximum 2 years. They do not contain lungs. They breath from their skin.
