The original name of Oregon was ouragon which meant ‘land of mythical river’. Then with the passage o time its pronunciation and spelling changed to Oregon.

3. Population and geography

The name of its capital city is Salem; this is the third most populous city of state. Most populated city of Oregon is Portland. According to a survey conducted in 2010, the population of this state is over 3.8 million. Portland stands at no. 29 in the most populated cities of US.

4. Climate and environment

As he state is located on pacific coast line so weather is mild here, but still the season of summer and winter comes, stays and goes. Weather is usually mild and environment is good for spending quality time.

Oregon owns the world’s oldest and deepest lake. It is 6500 years old and has crystal blue water. It is only lake in the world that ahs this beautiful shade of blue. Its name is Carter Lake.

As this state has the most volcanic rocks, so this is the state which faces most of the storms and destruction because the volcanoes erupt under the ocean and cause isonomy like situation for Oregon.

Oregon is the only state that has the official state nut. Its state’s nut is Hazel nut.

Oregon is the only state that has the highest number of caves that are stamped within solid marble.
