10 Colorado Facts

Colorado is one of the states of United States. It was first discovered by span in 15th century. Later it was claimed by the French people. In 1803, US obtained the eastern part of Colorado and in 1845, the central part of Colorado was entered under US control. Later on the remaining part of Colorado was obtained by US and it became the proper US state area wise. 1. The state capital
Colorado state capital is famous for its Beulah red marble installment. The entire world’s Beulah red marble went into the Colorado state capitol and it cannot be replaced at any part now. The cutting, polishing and fixing of this marble took 6 years from 1894 to 1900.

2. Turning down the Olympics

Colorado is the only state which turned down to host the Olympics in the winter of 1976 and the 62 % of the population decided at the last minute not to host the games due to pollution, population and cost.

3. Air force academy

The forces academies are considered the most disciplined and liked places in the world. The air force academy of US is located in Colorado State.

4. Flat Top Mountain

Mountains are not flat on the top, they have peaks. But Colorado has the world’s top mountain that is flat from its top. This mountain is situated in grand mesa.

5. Cheeseburger

Who does not know what the cheeseburger is? But the place which claims the invention of cheeseburger is Denver. The trademark of the name cheeseburger was awarded to Louis ballast in 1935.

6. The other name

Like all other states, Colorado also has a name other than its official name. It is called centennial state. The word Colorado means red colored may be due to the Colorado capitol.

7. State ownership

An interesting fact about the state of Colorado is that almost 1/3rd of its area is owned by the United States central govt.

8. Highest altitude

Colorado is famous for the highest altitude state. The altitude of this state is 10,000 feet. This state contains the 75% land area of US.

9. The 13th step

This 13th step is the step of the state capital building in Denver. This step is famous or unique because it is exactly I miles above sea level.
