The wetland is the area of land which is soaked with water to make a distinct ecosystem. This is the type of ecosystem which is a beloved living place of animals and best suitable growing area for the plants. Here are some wetlands facts.

1. Difference with Waterland

The wetland is the area which is different from water land made from heavy rain. A wetland is a complete ecosystem which is specific in terms of type of pants and water level or water table. An area will be wetland only when the water table near land surface can support the life of plants up to a minimum one year and even more.

2. Types of Wetland

There are four types of wetland which are swamp, fen, bog and marsh. Some researchers also include aquatic ecosystem and wet meadows as two more types of wetlands.

Swamp forest and Peatlands of Amazon and Siberia respectively are the largest wetlands.

4. Hydric Soil

Hydric soil which is a unique type of soil is one of the major characteristics of wetland and very suitable soil for aquatic plants.

Wetlands have various beneficial effects on our environment, land and living beings. Flood control, water purification, shoreline stability and a source of living for plants and animals are the key benefits of wetlands.
