Water Cycle Facts

Water is an essential part of our lives, in other words it is cradle of life and no life is possible without water. Water Cycle is essential for the distribution of water on planet earth. Moreover, water cycle cleans the impurities of water and makes it suitable for human consumption. Here are some facts about water cycle.

1. Forms of water

Water is the only liquid on this planet, which is can change its phases from solid to liquid and gas. It is present in all three states in the form of ice on glaciers, in the form of gas in air and in the form of liquid in oceans and rivers.

2. Percentage of water

97% water in present in oceans; it is either saltiest or not suitable for human consumption. 2% is locked in ice capes and only 1 % is ground water, which is also called as fresh water.

3. Advantages of water cycle

Water cycle has many positive effects on living creatures and on the environment. It regulates the weather of earth, cleans the atmosphere and cleans the impurities.

4. Stages of water cycle

Water cycle has many stages like evaporation, condensation, collection and precipitation. Interestingly, one can start studying this cycle from any stage, unlike other cycles.

5. Fastest cycle

Many cycles operate in the atmosphere like phosphorous and nitrogen cycle but water cycle is fastest of them all. A thunder storm can transfer millions of gallons of water from atmosphere to the ground in few minutes.
