10 Adoption Facts

There are many such people all over the world, who have no their own kids due to infertility or any other reason. A majority of these people adopt such children, who have either not alive parents or cannot live at their own homes due to some personal problems of their parents. 1. Meaning of Adoption

A kind of parenting plan is called adoption. In fact, this is lifetime commitment that people do with those kinds, whom they are adopting.

2. Types of Adoption

There are three types of adoption. The first is adoption by biological parents, second is adoption by foster parents and the third type is adoption by strangers.

3. Biological Parents

When a child is adopted by his own relative like aunt, uncle or even grandparents, such parents are called biological parents. This type of adoption is the safest form and kids feel themselves very secure in such type of adoption. However, it depends upon the willingness of relatives to adopt the child as well as availability of child’s relative as well.

4. Foster Parents

Forest parents are the legal guardians of any kid. In fact, the child is adopted in a private home that is claimed as licensed caregiver. Forest parents are those ones, who are interested to adopt a child without any external force.

5. Adoption by strangers

If there is no availability of biological parents or foster parents, the last choice in this regard is only strangers. Such parents are not legal guardians or biological parents.

6. OPPLA

In case of no applicable option from any three types of adoptions means biological parents, foster parents and strangers, there is another option called OPPLA or Other Planned Permanent Living Agreement. In this case, the children are adopted by government agencies.

7. Adoption of Disabled Children

No doubt, many people love to adopt children. However, there might be any person, who wants to adopt disabled children. So, some foster homes or state itself takes the responsibility of these disabled children.

According to a recent statistics, Americans adopt almost 140,000 kids every year or you can say there are approximately 7 million people are adopted parents in America.

9. England adoption Statistics

According to census of 2010, there are 64,400 adopted children present in England. Among which, 47,200 are in foster homes.
