Ollantaytambo Facts

Ollantaytambo, the ancient town, is a famous archeologist site since Inca Empire and is located near Cusco, Peru. This town was built and established by an Inca Emperor “Pachacuti”. Today, it is one of the most visiting tourist places in Peru. Here are some facts about Ollantaytambo.

1.  Location

The beautiful town Ollantaytambo is located at a distance of 60 km northwest from the Cusco city in the province of Urubamba that is the part of southern Peru.

2. History

The town and its surroundings were conquered by Inca Emperor “Pachacuti” in the middle of 15th century. Later on, in the era of “Manco Inca Yupanqui” it became a strong hosehold and royal estate of the entire region.

3. Famous Tourist Place

Today, Ollantaytambo has become a world famous tourists place for the national and international visitors thanks to splendid buildings, ruins of Inca Empire and tracking opportunities.

4. Inca Trial

Inca Trail is a famous tourist’s attraction in Ollantaytambo. This trial comprises three days and four night’s hikes from Inca Trail to Machu Picchu.

5. Places to Visit

The well-known places to visit in Ollantaytambo are the Incahuatana and the Princess’ Baths, Temple of Sun and the Mañaracay or Royal Chamber.
