George Washington is one such person who is called the father of the nation and was first president of America. He was born in February 22, 1732. On his credit are many things. He was the commander of the revolutionary war. He retired twice from the job and returned to farms. His retirement was such a fuss that the king George III of England said that “if he does that, he will be the greatest man in the world”. Anyway, below are given facts about his life.

His father died when he was 11 years old. When he became 20 years old, he inherited his family property and land which made him largest land holder in Virginia.

3. Slaves

George Washington had slaves. He freed all of them at his will before his death.

George Washington married at the age of 26 with a widow named Martha Dandridge. She had two children. George Washington did not have his own children; he adopted her wife’s kids.

5. Unanimously elected

George Washington was the only president who was elected unanimously without any opposition for both of his terms.

6. Only president

George Washington was the only president in the history of United States who represented no political party. He was also the only president who inaugurated two cities of United States, New York and Philadelphia. And he was one of the seven presidents from Virginia.

7. His love for horses

George Washington liked horse riding very much. But he never liked his horses to be dirty even at the hoof. His horses used to be cleaned from head to hoof he even had helpers to brush the teeth of his horses.
