Tiger Sharks Facts

Tiger shark is commonly called as sea tiger and is a large predator in the sea waters. It is found in tropical and temperate waters and in common around pacific islands. 1: Distribution

They are found in Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea and pacific coast. We can also find them around Hawaiian island, Solomon and Marshall islands. They are also spotted in the waters around New Zealand and Japan.

2: Food

Tiger sharks eat any type of fish, animal and other sharks. Their curious nature forces them to eat everything, which comes in their way.

3: Physical features

Their total length is around 12 feet, while some can grow up to 14 feet. Their weight can be from 850 pounds to two thousand pounds. Dorsal fins of tiger sharks are very close to their tail.

4: Reproduction

Tiger sharks give birth to young ones. Gestation period is around 14 to 16 months. They give birth to 10 to 80 pups at a time. They are independent, as soon as they are born.

5: Hunting

As they are found in shallow waters, so they attack people and people kill them. In shallow waters they are easy to hunt. A large number of tiger sharks is killed by ships and boats. They are also killed to make different products like Vitamin A.
