Rhino Facts

Rhinos are very large size mammals. They are very old mammals found on the earth. They are now become very rare specie due to their massive hunting by human beings just because of their horns and skin. Here are some facts about rhinos.

Shape and Size

They are white in color which is actually grey. They have a long face and a hump on neck. They are about 60 inches in length and weigh over 2 tons. Black rhino weighs 1 to 11/2 tons.

Habitat

White and black rhino habitat in different places. White rhinos habitat in mud wallows and water holes. Black rhino lives in areas containing woody vegetation.

Diet

They eat a large number of vegetation including leaves, shoots and buds of plants. They also eat bushes and trees. White rhino ear grasses.

Behavior

The black rhino is usually a solitary animal, while the white rhinos are very gregarious in behavior. They live in areas which are overlapped with each other. They got disturbed in that areas and get ill-tempered. There eye-sight is very poor and due to this reason they have a charge.

Interesting Facts

Tick bird or oxpecker is has a close relation with rhinos. Tick bird finds and eats ticks on the neck of rhino. It is also called guard of rhino. This bird also eats blood from the sores of the rhino’s skin.
