Chimpanzees Facts

Chimpanzee is the most closet animal species with human beings in terms of habits as well as DNA. Chimpanzees have remained interesting and astonishing characters in human life since a long time ago and they show very friendly and wise behavior especially with humans. Here are some facts about Chimpanzees.

1. Biological Description

It belongs to genus “Pan” and family “Hominidae” that is also the family of human beings as well. Biologists say that chimpanzees became separated from exact human family almost 4 to 6 million years ago.

2. Species

In fact, Chimpanzee itself is a species of Ape. However, it further has two subspecies called “Common Chimpanzees or Pan Troglodytes” and “Bonobo or Pan Paniscus”.

3. Habitat

Chimpanzees live in forests and savannah country. However, common Chimpanzees are found in West and Central Africa in contrast to Bonobo specie that is present in forests of Congo.

4. Diet

The dist of common Chimpanzees is fruits, leaves, termites, and sometimes small mammals, means they are omnivores. Similarly, Bonobo could be omnivores or mostly herbivores as they like to eat fruits on priority basis.

5. Special Features

Chimpanzees have DNA near to human beings up to 95-98 %. Therefore, they are truly considered as most intelligent among all other animals.
