Chameleons are very well known animals for their ability to change color. They mostly found on the island of Madagascar. They can also rotate their eyes in all directions. They have a tongue longer then their body, which they use to prey. Here are some interesting facts about Chameleon.

Shape and Size

Chameleon has laterally based flattered body. They have spines, horns and bulging eyes. Their eyes can rotate at 360 degree. They are dark green in color.

Range

They mostly found on Madagascar forests. They also found in Africa, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, India and southern Spain.

Diet

They are omnivores. Their diet circle includes insects, snails, lizards, flowers, berries, birds and fruit. They use their tongue to capture the insects.

Habitat

They usually have habitat on trees. They are arboreal creatures. They usually have a green color, so that they camouflage in their surroundings. They need water and sunlight for survival. They come on ground very rarely. They come for prey or to laying eggs.

Color Change

A chameleon can change its color. They change the color due to temperature, danger or emotions. It is usually said that they do not have an ability to change their color. There are melanophores in their bodies, which are responsible for color change.
