Fish is he famous sea food full of protein and other healthy components. There are many fish verities famous for their different taste despite of their home in one water reservoir. Some of the fish are full of bones while others do not have much. Those who do have loads of fish bones are most liked taste wise while there are some fish that are famous for their colors. There are many fish verities that are found in only cold waters while some can only be found in the warm waters. Salmon is a fish that is one of the most liked. 1. Color of Salmon

The orange color of salmon is due to the fact that it eats krill while in wild, but the famed salmon is given a pigment in food which gives it orange color.

2. Farming

The proper farming of salmon was started in 1960s in Norway. Before that there were only found wild salmons.

3. Fish Farming

Fish farming is not a new business it was started by Chinese in 2500 BC when the flood struck china and they started farming carps.

4. Marketed Salmons

Around half of the salmon available in the sea counters are not wild, they are farmed, but they are sold as wild.

5. Largest Salmon Framers

The places where the salmon is produced in largest quantity are Norway and chile. Norway being the pioneer is starting this business

6. Atlantic salmon

The wild Atlantic salmon are the endangered fish species now, so the salmon available in the US by name Atlantic salmon are farmed.

7. Species

There is only one species of salmon in Atlantic Ocean while 5 species in pacific oceans. These species are called chinook (king), sockeye (red), coho (silver), pink and chum (keta).

8. Return Home

It is a very interesting observation about salmons that they return to the stream of their birth by covering great distance and hazardous conditions in the water.

9. Reproduction

Salmon produces 2500 to 7000 eggs. Their laying eggs and egg size depends on the species and size of the parent fish. Among all the species, Chinook salmon gives the biggest eggs.

10. Life Span

The life span of the atlantic salmons is very short. They die shortly after spawning but the pacific salmons do survive for long and spawn again.
