There are two kinds of rabbit, a domestic one which is kept as a pet in houses and a wild one which is found in forests.

1. Classification

Rabbits belong to their own group lagomorphs. They are placed in their own group due to their specific unique features.

2. Shape

Rabbits have four legs. It has two long ears and a small tail. Two small eyes also present with a blind spot at the front of the face. It can jump up to height of thirty six inch.

3. Food

Rabbits are herbivores. They eat vegetables specially carrots, tree barks and herbs.

4. Social Animal

Rabbit is a social, loving and friendly animal. They easily get mixed with humans and are of very friendly nature.

5. Sensitive Ears

Rabbits have very sensitive ears and can listen to voices of low frequency. These ears also help to regulate the temperature of the body of rabbit.

6. Crepuscular

Rabbits are one of those animals which are very active at dawn and dusk. They are very fresh and active at these times. An example of crepuscular insects is mosquito.

7. Reproduction

Rabbit reproduce sexually. The gestation period in rabbit is of thirty days. They can produce between twenty to forty babies yearly.

8. Kit

The baby rabbit is called a kit. They are born blind and without fur. They open their eyes after two weeks of birth.

9. Natural Fertilizer

People kept rabbits in their gardens and lawns. The dropping of rabbits serves as an excellent garden fertilizer.

10. Meat

Rabbit’s meat is very good for heart patients as it ha slow cholesterol level. It is white in color with low fat and calories. It is used for dieting purpose.
